Update: CB300 - 1/13/09
23:30. It has been reported that Chad
Lindner and his reluctant team made it in to Wolverine Lodge
with a cheering, supportive crowd. More soon...
Update: CB300 -
1/13/09 20:00 As the banquet begins inside Wolverine
Lodge, one lone musher remains on the trail, Chad Lindner,
who is walking his team in the last six miles of the race,
the team shut down on him, it happens, a sort of mutiny.
Unexplainable how or why it happens, but it has happened
to many mushers. One dog gets in a bad mood and it becomes
infectious, one by one they just sit down, so a musher has
to do some mind reading to make the mood change, either
sit it out and wait until the dogs show enthusiasm again
or do like Chad, become the lead dog. Show the dogs he's
not ready to give up. Sometimes this works, and it seems
for Chad it is working. What Chad doesn't know is, at Wolverine
Lodge, all the mushers who ran the Copper Basin this year,
are ready to give him a winners reception.
